Counseling
Welcome to Jeff Albin’s Primary School Counseling Website!
I am the school counselor for Goldendale Primary School. I have the joy of working with students through whole class team building, small group counseling, and individual counseling. I also collaborate with school staff, parents and community partners. With my experience in mental health, mindfulness, family systems and adventure based counseling, I bring some different perspectives to school counseling.
I have been doing this kind of work for over 34 years. My background includes working in addictions, family systems, juvenile justice, mental health, wilderness therapy, high ropes course and schools. I am an LMHC (Licensed Mental Health Counselor) and CDP (Chemical Dependency Professional in the State of Washington as well as a RYT200 (Registered Yoga Teacher).
Classroom Team Building Lessons
Using curriculum rooted initially in Project Adventure and the work of Laurie Frank Journey Toward the Caring Classroom, I help students bond with each other and their teachers using carefully designed and sequenced lessons.
Small Group Counseling
I have found yoga and mindfulness to be wonderful tools for small groups. I am certified in Yoga Calm which is a child-centered yoga program that includes many lessons on social and emotional learning. I also do friendship groups and anger management.
Individual Counseling
Some students can benefit from one-on-one counseling regarding academic, social, or emotional challenges. With my extensive background in mental health, I can recognize when a child needs to be referred to outside resources or if my Brief Solution Model will fit their needs.
